Description
As with Lanikai Iki, turning on to the property, you immediately feel like you�re driving through a tropical rain forest with towering palms and heliconias bordering the driveway down to the parking area.
The exterior entry deck is Ipe hardwood and the interior stairway just through the double, single pane French doors is hand-oiled Brazilian Cherry wood, known for it\\'s strength and beautiful deep, rich red colors. The floors in the living areas are Ohia, a local hardwood. Works of art in the home include an old print of Lahaina circa 1800s during the height of the whaling era, an Indonesian painting and large Australian Aboriginal painting on pieces of thick bark. The end tables in the living room are lacquered, antique Chinese pieces with glass tops. We left the kitchen circa 1947, replacing only what was necessary. We\\'ve tried to keep the glass door knob look through-out the bedrooms, bathrooms and closets. All of the window systems have been re-furbished with new oak runners which get waxed time to time.
The baths have both been completely remodeled. Behind the scenes, the home has been completely re-wired and re-plumbed and most of the hot water is created by a solar hot water heating system. There is a large 60\\' tall monkey pod tree that is home to song birds that provide beautiful morning serenades. There is also a large breadfruit (Ulu in Hawaiian) tree in the back yard, hence the name Uluhale which means home of the breadfruit.
Our cleaning costs are on par with the amount of time our cleaning crew spends cleaning Uluhale. We do a very thorough cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, stack washer/dryer, hallways, kitchen, dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, refrigerator, oven/stove top, counter tops, sink, glass doors, walls & floors, just to mention some of what goes on. We even iron sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers.
